Voyeurism in Color

Description

It's somewhat unethical to produce more of your already in demand works, and this one is no exception. Still I think you can let this one pass this time, and for a good reason.

Photographers like everyone else have lucky moments. Sometimes, just sometimes, everything is right. The weather, the locale, people and the space in your flashcard, so you can shoot as much as you can. So it's not a surprise when the great share of the favorites in my gallery so far has been taken in a tight spot: 2 hours or less in one day, one location. It was just a beautiful New York autumn day: the rain had just stopped, the colors were just right, the dynamic range was within my ex digital rebel's limits. So the series happened there and then.

This one picture however, the moment I saw it within the frame I knew it would be one of the best photos I have taken. Because, on top of everything else in my favor, there was this perfect couple: the woman and her small daughter for some reason dressed up like a hooker. And they're looking out, with a certain distance and closeness to them. They were looking ahead, and that somehow is something I have a pecuiar facination for (maybe it has something to do with the fact that whenever I try to take portrait pictures I end having fights with the person involved.)

So I took the picture, looked at it once in the lcd viewer, and I said: "Boy, I can't wait to get back home and edit this on PS."

And that's what I did. At first I had no intention of doing a sephia colored version of it. Because the colors were so beautiful, the tonal range was so perfect that, it looked like injustice. Then after I finished the colored version (which you are looking at now), I said "let me try it in BW", which I did, and I liked. Then I did the sephia colors, and I loved it.

The problem was I felt like submitting only one, so I picked the latter. But I always felt, some other people might think otherwise. Now that I have nothing to submit new, I'm submitting this and hoping to get away with it. Hope you do me justice.

Happy new Year.
